The latest USDA numbers could help to add some support to the market. No promises and the outlook uncertain, but the current numbers could be viewed as encouraging. First of all, some production and supply and demand for the soon to end 2025 crop marketing year were revised.

The numbers say growers will plant 210,000 acres more than they said they i tended to plant back in March. USDA’s Acreage report is the first estimate of actual acres planted. if realized, acreage will be up over 1/2 million acres or 6% higher than last year.

After peaking at near 88 cents, prices have since lost roughly 13% and now stand in the 76 cents area. Price tried to stabilize around 80 cents, but additional weakness resulted in further loses.
